As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, the Social Worker will provide services to adult inpatients with digestive, gynecological, urological and other oncological diagnoses (the majority of whom undergo surgery). The services provided range from psycho-social assessment and treatment; crisis intervention; advocacy; supportive counseling; consultation; discharge planning; palliative care; patient/family/staff education; linking with community resources. The Social Worker will enjoy a challenging practice, which requires excellent clinical skills, flexibility and a desire to work both independently and collaboratively in a variety of settings.

1. Current Certificate of Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers as a Social Worker
2. Baccalaureate degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work, Masters degree in Social Work preferred
3. Recent hospital-based clinical experience, in an adult acute medical/surgical environment
4. Excellent knowledge of community support and placement services
5. Knowledge of Healthcare Consent Act, Substitute Decisions Act, Child and Family Services Act
6. Proven ability to work as a member of interdisciplinary healthcare teams
7. Proven ability to organize and prioritize patient caseload
8. Excellent communication skills
9. Experience working with Oncology patients would be considered an asset
