As a Kamloops Operations, Summer Student with Trans Mountain, you'll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of Operations Technicians in the Kamloops District. The successful summer student will assist all work disciplines throughout the Kamloops district. The summer student will also provide timely assistance to Field Technicians, increasing the efficiency in completing tasks.
This position is based in our Kamloops regional office and will report to the Supervisor Operations, Kamloops District.
Duration: May 4, 2026 to August 21, 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate lawn tractors/mowers/weed whackers: assisting with landscaping, fire control, and vegetation management throughout the district boundaries.
- General station maintenance including painting, deficiency review and clean up.
- Pressure washing, cleaning heavy duty equipment (Noxious Weed Control).
- Signage repair at pump stations and/or on the Right of Way.
- Transportation of materials and supplies to and from site providing support to district Technicians.
- Assisting with hazardous waste documentation and removal.
- Re-coating small sections of pipe that have been identified through the Facility Pipe Inspection work orders.
- Scheduling and assisting with fleet vehicle maintenance appointments.
- Safety Data Sheet (SDS) inventory control and audit for the district.
- Building maintenance – small project planning and execution.
- Office furniture construction and preparation.
- Assist with Internal / External Audit inspection and preparation.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
- Previous landscape and/or lawn maintenance work history would be an asset.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program with at least 1 year completed.
- Able to perform physically demanding duties and tasks.
- Positive attitude, team player, strong work ethic and willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
- Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the public.
- Previous work history within an industrial setting would be an asset.
- Flexible to accommodate possible changes in scheduled work.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft systems – Outlook/Word/Excel/Share Point/Teams/Microsoft Calendar.
- Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Other Requirements and Information
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution and return to full time studies in the fall.
- This role is full-time in office, and requires on-site attendance for the duration of the summer term.
The expected pay range for this position is $24.61 to $33.48 CAD.
