Position Overview

Cambridge Treats is seeking a dependable and versatile General Labour team member to join our growing pet treats manufacturing operation. This flexible, multi-faceted role is essential to daily production and supports safe, efficient, and high-quality treat manufacturing. The ideal candidate is comfortable rotating between tasks—such as operating extrusion or packaging lines, assisting with mixers, and performing general line duties—and takes pride in contributing to a smooth, productive workflow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and support equipment on the extrusion, mixing, and packaging lines as assigned.
  • Perform general labour duties including product handling, loading, unloading, and material movement.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Maintenance teams to resolve product or equipment issues.
  • Monitor product quality and follow established quality control procedures.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Comply with all Health & Safety regulations, HACCP protocols, and WHMIS guidelines.
  • Assist with equipment setup, changeovers, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting and escalate technical issues to Maintenance as needed.
  • Follow production schedules, work instructions, and supervisor directives.
  • Report any safety concerns, equipment issues, or product defects immediately.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training.
  • Perform other related duties within the plant as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years of manufacturing or food production experience an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to learn and perform multiple roles across production lines as directed.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift, bend, stand, and move for extended periods (weight requirements dependent on plant standards).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude is considered an asset.

Work Environment

  • Environment: Manufacturing plant with exposure to noise, heat, and food ingredients.
  • PPE: Safety shoes, hearing protection, gloves, hairnets, and other PPE as required.
  • Additional conditions may include standing for extended periods, repetitive motions, and working near moving machinery.
  • Shift work, weekends, and overtime may be required based on production demands.
