Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Developer ETL to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level ETL solutions for the Community Services Cluster (CSC) under the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement.

This role involves building scalable data pipelines, supporting data warehouse and business intelligence initiatives, and providing sustainment and release support for CSC platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and enhance ETL data pipelines involving data extraction, transformation, and loading
  • Translate technical system specifications into tested, production-ready applications
  • Write detailed programming specifications, develop code, conduct unit testing, and maintain applications
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during development, deployment, and operations
  • Support release management, infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and time-sensitive sustainment activities
  • Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Ensure ETL solutions meet scalability, performance, and maintainability standards
  • Investigate data quality issues within ETL pipelines and propose effective solutions
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical and user documentation

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of hands-on experience designing and developing ETL solutions using Azure Data Factory
  • Strong experience working with Azure Data Factory and Power BI together
  • Proven experience designing data warehouses and data marts
  • Strong SQL expertise, including writing and optimizing complex SQL queries
  • Experience developing star schema and multidimensional data models

  • Hands-on experience with:

  • SQL Server

  • Azure SQL Database
  • Azure Blob Storage

  • Oracle 12.x

  • Experience debugging ETL mappings, transformations, and data workflows

  • Experience building ETL solutions for business intelligence and reporting
  • Experience developing Unix shell scripts
  • Experience using Azure DevOps for code management, releases, and deployments
  • Experience documenting code changes, release packages, and deployment instructions
  • Experience performing Unit Testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience with Informatica / PowerCenter
  • Experience with PowerDesigner for data modeling and DDL generation
  • Experience developing Internet-ready applications
  • Knowledge of Information Management principles and best practices
  • Experience with Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodologies
  • Experience working with middleware and gateway technologies
  • Experience reviewing and modifying installation or deployment scripts
  • Experience conducting design walkthroughs and technical review sessions
  • Knowledge of AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) standards
  • Experience creating user and system documentation
  • Previous experience working in the public sector or large, complex organizations
  • Experience developing solutions compliant with GO-ITS standards
