The City of Delta is seeking a temporary Summer Camp Support Worker to provide one-to-one support for a child with a disability within its summer day camp programs. The successful candidate will work across multiple recreation facilities and will support the inclusion and participation of the child in a safe, respectful, and engaging recreation environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain ongoing communication with Volunteer Coordinator regarding participant portfolios, background information, program progress, and any emerging challenges.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding the participant's progress and experiences in camp.
  • Support the participant's inclusion and integration into camp activities and recreation settings.
  • Work collaboratively with summer day camp staff to incorporate children with disabilities into all aspects of summer programming, including:
  • Reviewing daily activity plans.
  • Identifying activities in which the child can participate.
  • Recommending program modifications where required; and
  • Assessing activities that may not be suitable for the participant.
  • Assist participants with toileting, when required.
  • Respond appropriately to behavioural issues or challenges as they arise.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Be a student pursuing a career in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Education Assistant, or a related discipline.
  • Have a minimum of six (6) months of related experience working with children and/or youth with disabilities.
  • Demonstrate experience with inclusive practices, effective problem management, teamwork, and relationship-building.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with participants, families, and staff.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic program environment.

The City of Delta provides a competitive starting wage of $ $30.41 per hour. Interested applicants are requested to apply online by February 12, 2026.
