YOUR ROLE

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our partner company, a leading property and casualty insurance group, in their IT department. You will be interning for a company that has more than 4,000 employees focused on creating a sustainable future for the people, the customers, the communities and the planet. This role offers hands-on experience in IT governance, risk management, and project support.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in conducting IT risk and control assessments.
  • Support the development and implementation of IT controls.
  • Monitor and report on IT risk and control metrics.
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to ensure compliance with policies.
  • Support the reporting and management of IT initiatives, tracking project progress, and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Conduct research and assist with small-scale IT initiatives, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • Provide administrative support to contribute to the successful execution of the annual IT strategic plan.
  • Assist with IT governance activities such as facilitating meetings and tracking actions through all phases, from initiation to completion

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a graduate-level student from the following universities:
    University of Waterloo, University of Toronto, York University or Western University.
  • Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of IT tools or project management software is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced and evolving organization.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills in relation to data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to create slides that effectively communicate key messages.
