Role Description

This is a
full-time, on-site
role for a
Software Engineering Intern Manager
located in Toronto, ON.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing
me
.

You will mentor, guide, and periodically course-correct my software engineering efforts while ensuring alignment with
your
existing project goals (which I will happily adopt as my own personality). Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing my software development tasks and gently reminding me why my approach "works, but isn't ideal"
  • Facilitating collaboration between me, you, and possibly other interns
  • Managing project timelines that are ambitious
  • Enabling measurable technical and professional growth

You will also review code, enforce quality standards, explain why tests matter
this time
, and collaborate with cross-functional teams when you feel like showing me how adults do it.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in Software Development, including proficiency in programming languages, frameworks, and development processes. I like C#, C++, or python.
  • Strong Team Leadership and mentorship skills to guide and support software engineering interns
  • Knowledge of big data solutions with large scalable system and great understand of basic databases.
  • Proficiency in Project Management methodologies and tools to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and ensure project success
  • Understanding of Distributed Systems and experience working with large-scale, high-availability systems
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with interns and cross-functional teams
  • Previous experience managing or mentoring engineering interns is an asset

Almost anywhere in the GTA. I will be commuting from
Oakville

. I learn best by overhearing conversations, asking "quick questions" that are not quick, and contributing my best work when physically present near senior engineers.
