This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent part-time position working 60 hours bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.
This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon .

Long-Term Care (LTC) provides resident centered care to individuals who requires assistance/care in various level in their daily living activities that creates a feeling of home belonging for all who live in Yukon Continuing care homes though responsiveness to the uniqueness of each resident. The services vary from intermediate to end of life care (Hospice) where the focus is on the care, comfort, and quality of life of a person with a serious illness who is approaching the end of life.

Your role
You will provide professional and clinical dietitian care and services to residents in our long-term care home. You may also develop food and nutrition policies and procedures, assess psycho-social and cultural factors affecting nutritional intake by consulting with residents, significant others, physicians, and the care team.

Important Application And Job Requirements
Essential qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.
- Bachelor of Science degree in food and nutrition, dietetics, or related field from a recognized educational institution with internship completed (those nearing completion may be considered)
- Eligible to be a Registered Dietitian in Canada through a regulatory body
- Experience working in long-term care will be considered an asset
- Experience planning, implementing and evaluating quality improvement programs and initiatives will be considered an asset

Desired Knowledge, Skills And Suitability
If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:
- Knowledge of nutrition care plan development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation with residents within an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to develop, implement and review therapeutic menus and recipes
- Knowledge of new trends in clinical and administrative dietetics and a commitment to learning and personal development
- Skilled in developing, implementing, and reviewing policies for food safety, staff safety, accident prevention, dietary guidelines, and clinical nutrition pathways to optimize clinical resources
- Demonstrates a client-centered approach while effectively balancing the resident's care goals and nutritional requirements
- Ability to build strong working relationships within an interdisciplinary team

Conditions of employment
You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.
- TB screening
- RCMP vulnerable sector check
- Food safe
- WHIMIS 2015
- Valid class 5 driver's license
- Current registration as a Registered Dietitian with a Canadian regulatory body (ie. College of Dietitians of Alberta)

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
- Exposure to infectious diseases exposure to plants and/or flowers and/or second-hand smoke when supervising residents/clients, exposure to allergens
- Occasional travel within Whitehorse
