Diamond Valley AB, Canada Foothills School Division Full time

The successful candidate will have the ability to work with minimal supervision under the direction of the classroom teacher and learning coach. They will provide flexible support to students/children according to their changing needs and to facilitate and encourage independence in all areas of student/child development.

This part-time position will follow the school year calendar. Weekly hours are approximately 16.25 hours scheduled in the mornings.

The Education Assistant will establish effective working relationships with teachers, parents and the community. A strong background and expertise working with students with a wide range of physical, cognitive, social and emotional differences including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Trauma
  • Down Syndrome
  • medically fragile
  • mild, moderate and severe intellectual delays
  • ADHD
  • self-care personal assistance

Experience working with students with complex needs that includes collaboration with educational support teams and therapists, such as SLP, OT, and Behavioral Consultants is an asset. If you would describe yourself as possessing a love for all children, with strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to multi-task in a busy school team environment then we welcome your application. Preferred applicants will have a Educational Assistant Certificate.

Pay Grid Level I - High School Diploma

Pay Grid Level II (Certified) - Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma, or a High School Diploma and the equivalent of a minimum of one (1) year of full-time post secondary course study
