Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Ventilation Mining Engineer will be responsible for continuing the design of the ventilation network and monitoring it.  Based at the Windfall site, located in the Nord-du-Québec region, the successful candidate will be required to work an 8-day work schedule followed by 6 days off. Transportation, accommodation, and meals will be provided. 
Duties and responsibilities 

•Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and accident prevention standards and implement corrective measures; 

•Comply at all times with occupational health and safety and environmental policies and rules and ensure that staff comply with these rules;

•Design the mine's ventilation system, both for the main network and for secondary ventilation;

•Model the ventilation system using Ventsim software;

•Assess short-, medium-, and long-term ventilation needs to support operations;

•Ensure that ventilation readings are taken weekly and verify them; 

•Design and obtain approval for ventilation specifications and standards;

•Participate in the development of ventilation plans and ensure their issuance;

•Responsible for implementing the ventilation-on-demand (VOD) system;

•Participate in the development and monitoring of the ventilation budget;

•Research and participate in the continuous improvement of the ventilation network for performance and cost reduction;

•Select and order fans and ventilation-related accessories;

•Mentor interns;

•Actively participate in various organizational meetings;

•Act as the company representative on site and ensure that all work is performed according to best practices;

•Ensure that deadlines are met;

•Perform any other tasks related to the position of ventilation mining engineer that are relevant to the success of the project.

Qualifications

•Hold a university degree in mining engineering;

•Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in mining, including three years of experience in mine ventilation;

•Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);

•Experience in project management is an asset;

•Hold mining modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7;

•Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license;

•Hold a valid explosives license.

Technical skills

•Have knowledge of the various processes according to industry standards;

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, etc.) as well as specialized software such as AutoCAD and Ventsim;

•Knowledge of Deswik software (an asset);

•Good knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to exploration and mining sites.

Basic skills

•Demonstrate rigor in occupational health and safety;

•Have excellent command of French and good knowledge of English;

•Be an excellent communicator;

•Be an excellent team player and demonstrate tact;

•Be flexible and open to change and constructive feedback;

•Have good organizational skills and the ability to recognize priorities;

•Be independent, show initiative, and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;

•Be thorough and demonstrate ethics and integrity.
