Toronto, Ontario, Canada ShyftLabs Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

About ShyftLabs

At ShyftLabs, we live and breathe data. Since 2020, we've been helping Fortune 500 companies unlock growth with cutting-edge digital solutions that transform industries and create measurable business impact. We're growing fast and we're looking for passionate problem-solvers who are ready to turn big ideas into real outcomes.

The Opportunity

We're a fast-growing startup on a mission to redefine how automation, AI, and data infrastructure power business decisions. Our platform is scaling quickly, and we're looking for a Technical Product Manager who can translate big ideas into scalable products that ship fast and deliver real value. You'll be working at the intersection of AI, data, and cloud infrastructure, shaping the backbone of our product ecosystem, from automation frameworks and data pipelines to intelligent models that learn and adapt.

What you'll be doing
  • Own the product lifecycle end-to-end, from defining the problem and writing PRDs to launching, measuring, and iterating across backend, AI, and data-platform projects.
  • Turn complex business needs into clear technical specs, user stories, and priorities for engineering teams working in , Python, React, and GCP/AWS environments.
  • Partner with engineering, data science, DevOps, QA, and design to prioritize roadmap items that align with strategic OKRs, cost targets, and release velocity.
  • Define success metrics (SLAs, SLOs, cost-performance trade-offs) and drive delivery outcomes that balance reliability with speed.
  • Lead automation initiatives powered by AI, from OCR and reconciliation models to LLM-based data extraction and anomaly detection.
  • Shape technical direction, conducting feasibility analyses and making smart architecture calls (think GCP Cloud SQL vs Aurora, Kafka vs Pub/Sub, RDS Proxy adoption).
  • Keep everyone aligned through sprint planning, stakeholder syncs, and transparent documentation, including PRDs, SOWs, cost models, and architecture diagrams.
  • Coordinate with vendors and partners like Altinity, AWS, and Petco Cloud to strengthen integrations and ensure compliance.
What you bring
  • 5+ years in technical product management or a related role within startups, data, or automation-heavy environments.
  • Strong grasp of cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS), APIs, data workflows, and automation frameworks.
  • Experience leading AI/ML or data-platform products from idea to production.
  • Comfortable diving into architecture discussions and trade-off decisions with engineers.
  • A builder's mindset where you prioritize outcomes over process and love finding scrappy, elegant solutions.
  • Excellent communicator who can translate technical complexity into clear value for both developers and business stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience (bonus if you've worked at an early-stage startup before).
