Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will support various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. This role requires proficiency in accounting software and a solid understanding of financial concepts, including GAAP and corporate accounting practices. The Accounting Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with audits.

Duties

  • Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Support payroll management processes using systems such as ADP, Paychex, or Kronos.
  • Execute journal entries and maintain accurate bookkeeping practices, including double entry bookkeeping.
  • Engage in account analysis and account reconciliation to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
  • Utilize various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft for data entry and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with team members on budgeting processes and credit analysis to support financial planning.
  • Maintain compliance with SOX regulations and assist in governmental or non-profit accounting as needed.
  • Provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation and reports.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) and financial software applications (Workday, UltiPro).
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts including corporate accounting, technical accounting, and public accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with payroll management systems such as ADP or Ceridian is preferred.
  • Excellent data entry skills with a strong emphasis on accuracy (10 key typing).
  • Knowledge of tax experience related to corporate or governmental entities is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze financial data effectively with strong math skills for account analysis and budgeting tasks.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
