We are seeking a talented
Civil/Structural Designer
to join our dynamic Energy and Resources team. As part of our team, you will collaborate with engineers and project managers to create detailed designs, schematics, and technical drawings for cutting-edge renewable energy systems, including but not limited to PV Solar Farms, BEES, Substations, Wind Generation Turbines, Transmission & Distribution Lines, roads, and buildings. Your work will help drive sustainable energy solutions for a greener future.

This role offers flexibility through our hybrid work model, allowing you to work remotely or from our Mississauga office with adaptable hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed technical drawings, schematics, and layouts for renewable energy projects, such as solar, wind, and energy storage systems, substations, and transmission/distribution lines.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to transform engineering concepts into precise design documentation.
  • Prepare design calculations, layout plans, water management studies, road and intersection designs, and other project documentation for renewable energy initiatives.
  • Work closely with engineers and stakeholders to ensure designs comply with technical requirements, industry codes, and regulations.
  • Revise and adjust designs based on project feedback and evolving needs.
  • Ensure that all designs align with quality standards and industry best practices.
  • Support the creation of project proposals, presentations, and reports.
  • Use CAD software (e.g., Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit) to produce high-quality, accurate drawings.
  • Maintain well-organized project files to ensure accuracy and traceability.

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years of professional experience as a Civil/Structural Designer, with a focus on renewable energy projects.
  • Strong knowledge of renewable energy systems, including solar, wind, energy storage, and transmission & distribution lines.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar), with the ability to:
  • Create Civil 3D profiles for earthwork volumes and calculate material volumes between surfaces.
  • Generate surfaces from field data, ground surveys, and LiDAR.
  • Develop feature lines from existing and proposed surfaces.
  • Design access road corridors and profiles based on existing conditions and project criteria.
  • Experience in modeling foundations and structural steel.
  • Expertise in designing water management systems, ponds, road and intersection layouts, grading, and site plans.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations for renewable energy projects.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with engineers, project managers, and team members.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A degree or technical certification in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field is preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with 3D modeling software such as Civil 3D, Revit, or Advanced Steel.
  • Familiarity with energy modeling tools, including PVsyst for solar design.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices and green building standards.
  • Experience with project management software and tools.
