Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of Fixed Income Sales and Trading globally; ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

What You'll Do

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Works with Credit Trading desk and firm customers to develop executable credit trade ideas that maximize revenue, are within firm tolerance, as well as drive new issue business through reverse orders.
  • Works with Credit Trading to develop and enhance internal tools to identify areas of opportunities in secondary markets with a goal of being a trusted counterpart and relevant in the space.
  • Fosters client relationships across multiple fixed income products groups – ie ABS/MBS, HY and IG – and look for opportunities to cross sell into other groups within FICC.
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Embraces and contributes to a high-performance environment and adopts a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their peers
  • Provides verbal and written commentaries on corporate credit issues to the Banks Montreal Fixed Income credit investors.
  • Looks to identify opportunities for the trading desk to enhance profitable secondary activity.
  • Covers all Montreal credit focused accounts as well as performs a support/analyst function for the sales generalists in place.

What You'll Bring

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Capital markets experience whether through trading or other areas within Debt Capital Markets
  • Knowledge of fixed income markets and overall drivers that influence day-to-day trading activities.
  • Knowledge/experience with credit rating agencies
  • Have a good knowledge of the corporate bond market, with knowledge of both issuers and/or investors an asset
  • Strong and effective communication skills
  • Comfortable working within a fast paced and active environment
  • CSC and CPH required

Work Arrangement
This position is currently an on-site role, with the expectation that you will work 5 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
