Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Chinook Transport Service Full time

Chinook Transport Service is a family-owned and operated temperature-controlled cartage company shipping FTL and LTL produce, dairy, meats, seafood, baked goods and beverages throughout Calgary and surrounding areas.

We are currently seeking a Commercial Driver to join our team to assist in managing our amazing growth in the temperature-controlled last-mile trucking industry. This is a very hands-on position requiring the right individual to quickly familiarize themselves with our operations and make an immediate impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for daily pre and post-trip vehicle inspections, Fueling, identifying and reporting safety or mechanical hazards.
  • Ensuring assigned deliveries are completed in a timely and safe manner and communicating any delays if they occur.
  • Completing other tasks as assigned, including assisting in warehouse operations when necessary.
  • Completing post-shift duties and ensuring that submitted documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Operating a forklift in a warehouse to load and unload truck.

Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's license required.
  • Airbrake certificate (Q endorsement)
  • Experience loading and unloading LTL trailers and trucks.
  • General knowledge of the transportation industry.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Strong command of the English language and good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Physically capable of lifting 50lbs.
  • Excellent time management, decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Availability to work occasional overtime.

  • Commercial driving: 3 years (required)
  • Offloading trailers using forklift: 1 year (preferred)
  • Backing up 53 ft truck and trailer: 2 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Canadian Class 1 License (required)
