As an apprentice, you will learn to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide variety of vehicles and equipment, gaining valuable skills that will set you up for success in the heavy equipment industry. This role is perfect for individuals eager to develop mechanical expertise in a fast-paced environment while contributing to the safe and efficient operation of our fleet and machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior mechanics with diagnosing issues using schematics, automotive diagnostics, and mechanical knowledge.
  • Support the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery.
  • Learn to perform routine inspections, oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, suspension work, and hydraulic system repairs.
  • Help with the assembly and disassembly of equipment components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques.
  • Participate in troubleshooting electrical systems, air brake systems, transmissions, HVAC systems, shocks & struts, and alignment procedures.
  • Gain experience in fabricating parts or modifications as needed for equipment repair or customization.
  • Follow safety protocols during heavy lifting operations and ensure all work complies with industry standards.

Skills

  • Basic mechanical skills with a strong desire to learn heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with schematics and ability to interpret technical manuals.
  • Experience or interest in dealership environments or automotive repair is a plus.
  • Knowledge of fabrication techniques including welding and soldering.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and safety gear effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail during vehicle diagnostics and repairs.
  • Good communication skills for working collaboratively with team members and understanding technical instructions.
