Job Overview:
The Industrial Upholstery & Embroidery Technician is responsible for cutting, sewing, and installing upholstery materials on equipment and operating embroidery equipment to produce high‑quality, customized products. Responsibilities:
- Lay out, measure, and cut upholstery materials (vinyl, fabric, leather) according to patterns or design specifications.
- Operate industrial sewing machines and hand tools to sew covers, cushions, and panels, including single and double stitching as required.
- Install padding, foam, and underlay and fasten covering materials to frames using staples, adhesives, or other fasteners.
- Operate embroidery machines to set up designs, hoop materials, run jobs, and perform basic maintenance (threading, tension adjustments, cleaning).
- Read and interpret sketches, patterns, measurements, or work orders to produce consistent, repeatable results.
- Inspect finished items for quality, correct fit, and accurate placement of embroidery, making adjustments or repairs as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in upholstery in automotive, marine, or industrial upholstery environments or equivalent training.
- Proven experience operating industrial sewing machines and working with heavy fabrics, vinyl, and/or leather.
- Hands‑on experience with embroidery machines (single‑head or multi‑head) or strong interest and aptitude to learn.
- Ability to read measurements, patterns, and work orders with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good manual dexterity and ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, and lifting materials up to [20–40] lbs.
- Basic English communication skills for reading instructions and completing jobs to specifications.
- Familiarity with digitizing embroidery files or using embroidery design software.
- Experience making or modifying upholstery patterns from sketches or sample pieces.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills as you will be part of a team.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
