About the role

The candidate will participate as a Software Engineering member of the Naval Development team in a multi-disciplined team environment working on the total engineering life cycle from specification, design development, integration and test, deployment, maintenance and field trouble shooting for large scale high complexity naval platform systems.

The candidate will participate in engineering activities including but not limited to:

  • Software development, predominately using Java
  • Software requirements analysis and reviews
  • Software design analysis and reviews
  • Unit testing and documentation
  • Integration and deployment
  • Trade-off analysis and prototype
  • Problem Solving
  • Working in an Agile team environment

What you bring to the role

  • Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • Proficient in Java and C++
  • 3-5 years' work experience with Java development
  • Eligible to obtain North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secret clearance in a timely manner

Additional skills desired for the role

  • Technical experience with Java development
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of scripting in Bash and Java
  • Knowledge of software requirements engineering processes
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum software development process
  • Knowledge of Unified Modelling Language (UML)
  • Knowledge of System Modelling Language (SysML)
  • Familiar with Linux operating environment
  • Familiar with development tools such as Eclipse, IntelliJ, VS Code, Git, SVN, JUnit, etc.
  • Knowledge of recognized software/system engineering processes
  • Aptitude for software design and architecture
  • Well organized, capable of planning, scheduling and prioritizing work
  • Aptitude for solving challenging problems in a team environment
  • Active Security Clearance (NATO Secret) considered an asset for this role
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
