Under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a crucial role supporting internal stakeholders in process improvement, documentation, and efficiency initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, offering exposure to production operations, quality systems, and continuous improvement projects. The intern will assist with data collection, workflow analysis, and documentation to enhance manufacturing performance and product quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment.
  • Help maintain accurate maintenance logs, equipment records, and spare parts inventory.
  • Observe and learn from skilled trades personnel in diagnosing and resolving equipment issues.
  • Help maintain and inventory production tools and equipment.
  • Support analysis of inventory data to identify obsolete component.
  • Assist with research for production improvements, maintenance, replacement parts, and cost.
  • Participate in production improvement, automation, and reliability projects.
  • Assist in developing or updating maintenance documentation.
  • Support 5S and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Follow all safety procedures and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Contribute to tracking KPIs and reporting trends for corrective action.

Skills, Education, and/or Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, electromechanical technology, or similar education preferred.
  • Familiarity with machining processes, tooling, and materials preferred.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and other manufacturing basic equipment preferred.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills required.
  • Familiarity with maintenance and inventory systems,processes,and software preferred.
  • Previous experience with quality and process improvement preferred.
  • Technical skills required for computers and tablets.
  • Able to work proficiently in a team-oriented setting, as well as independently.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Health and Safety guidelines.

Job Conditions

Physical Demands:

  • Moderate physical effort – able to lift between 10 and 50lbs at times.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Sitting, lifting, squatting, pushing, or reaching for intermittent or extended periods.

Work Environment:

  • Factory, Warehouse, Distribution Center, Office
  • May be exposed to loud, repetitive sounds from machinery or equipment
  • May use chemicals or other in accordance with MSDS
  • May operate machinery in close proximity or with objects exposed to eyes or face
