Part-time Childcare Worker

- Plan and implement childcare programs for the children residing in the shelter: infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children
- Create a safe and welcoming environment for the children through planned indoor and outdoor activities
- Assist with maintaining the Childcare room in a clean and orderly manner in accordance with Public Health standards
- Assist the children with fine and gross motor skills, English acquisition, development of concentration skills, the promotion of creative expression and cultural orientation,
- Assist the children with the process of separating from the primary caregiver and offer emotional support when required
- Approach parents and staff in an appropriate and professional manner, when accepting children into the Childcare and returning the children to their parents or to the staff
- Ongoing observation and documentation of children's progress and issues
- Maintain open communication with co-workers and supervisor regarding children's issues, concerns, observations, and programming
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Fulfill reporting/documentation requirements, within established deadlines for completion
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in ECE, CYW, Child Studies, Education or another related field
- Experience working with children from birth to older youth,
- Excellent oral and written communication skills,
- Leadership skills, a positive behaviour management style and creative ideas,
- CPR/First Aid Training.
