Waterloo ON NJ N, Canada BioEquity Holdings Inc. Full time

Career Opportunity: Children's Therapist (Telehealth/In-Person) – Transformation Counselling

Location: Waterloo, Ontario (Remote and In-Person)

Engagement: Part-Time or Full-Time, Flexible Scheduling

About Us

At Transformation Counselling, we are dedicated to creating a safe, compassionate, and client-centred environment where children, adolescents, and adults can heal, grow, and thrive. Our multidisciplinary team provides high-quality mental health care to individuals and families across Ontario, with services designed to meet clients where they are—developmentally, emotionally, and relationally.

We value collaboration, clinical excellence, and ethical practice, and we support our clinicians so they can focus on meaningful therapeutic work rather than administrative burden.

Current Opportunity

We are seeking an empathetic, skilled Children's Therapist to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a clinician who enjoys working with children of all ages, adolescents, and adults, and who is comfortable providing therapy both in-person and online.

You will work as an independently contracted clinician and receive consistent referrals from the clinic. While our practice is based in Ontario, we welcome applications from clinicians who are registered and in good standing with their respective regulatory bodies and are eligible to practice within Ontario.

The ideal candidate is confident managing a steady caseload of approximately 5 to 30 client hours per week, across one to five days, depending on availability. Transformation Counselling provides scheduling support, systems infrastructure, charting tools, and full billing administration—allowing you to focus on clinical care.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a client caseload through clinic-provided referrals
  • Provide individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults, and support families as clinically appropriate
  • Conduct age-appropriate mental health assessments and determine suitable levels of care
  • Develop and implement treatment plans using evidence-based and developmentally informed approaches
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation
  • Provide case management and coordinate care with caregivers, schools, or other professionals when required
  • Apply crisis intervention and problem-solving skills when clinically indicated
  • Maintain compliance with professional, ethical, and regulatory standards
  • Participate in periodic meetings with the management team to support clinical quality and best practices

Qualifications

  • Registration in good standing with a recognized social work or counselling regulatory college
  • Minimum 1+ years of post-licensure clinical experience (experience with children required)
  • Professional Liability Insurance (or willingness to obtain prior to start date)
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Ability to establish trust and rapport with children, caregivers, and adult clients
  • Commitment to client confidentiality and compliance with PHIPA
  • Professional, timely, and compassionate communication with new and existing clients

Preferred Assets

  • Experience working with children and adolescents across developmental stages
  • Training in evidence-based modalities such as CBT, play-based therapy, EMDR, DBT, attachment-based therapy, EFT, or trauma-informed approaches
  • Comfort supporting parents and caregivers alongside child therapy

Remuneration and Benefits

  • $80.00 – $120.00 per hour, depending on experience and credentials
  • Flexible work arrangements: remote, in-person, or hybrid
  • Design your own schedule
  • Unlimited vacation time
  • Complimentary continuing education support

Education

  • Master's Degree in psychotherapy, social work, counselling, or a related field (required or in progress)
  • Active registration with a relevant professional association/college (required)
  • Individual professional liability insurance (required or to be obtained)

Work Modality

  • Remote and In-Person
  • In-person services provided in Waterloo, Ontario; virtual services across Ontario

Interested applicants are invited to submit a resume and thoughtful cover letter. While we appreciate all applications, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

Please note that although we value diverse professional backgrounds, this role requires clinicians who are able to practice within Ontario and meet all applicable provincial regulatory standards.

Apply today and join a team dedicated to supporting children, families, and individuals on their journey toward healing and growth at Transformation Counselling.
