Mechanical Engineer Co-op Student - Vernon, BC

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Design, test, and evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by conducting research and applying mechanical principles.
- Develop cost-effective equipment modifications to improve safety and reliability.
- Create 3D CAD models and detailed shop drawings using SolidWorks.
- Assist in developing prototypes and evaluating results to recommend design modifications.
- Participate in mine site visits and collaborate with field operators to gather insights for product improvements.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair services to ensure operational equipment reliability.
- Stay current with industry developments by attending workshops, seeking out training, and expanding your technical knowledge.
Qualifications for Success:
- Working towards a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent at an accredited institution.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Experience or familiarity with 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office.
- Practical, hands-on background with exposure to machining, fabrication, and assembly.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and efficiency.
- Able to work independently or within a team to meet deadlines and project goals.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to contribute in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
