UnspecifiedAbout Pratt & Whitney Canada
Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is a global leader in the aerospace industry, headquartered in Longueuil, Quebec. We manufacture next-generation engines that power the world's largest fleet of business, general aviation, and regional aircraft and helicopters.
For nearly 100 years, we have pioneered advancements in engine development, supporting cargo and equipment, transportation, wildfire suppression, and passenger travel.
An Employer of Choice
Pratt & Whitney Canada was recognized as one of Canada's Top 10 Employers in 2025 by Forbes and ranked #1 in the aerospace and defense industry in the country. Our headquarters are also listed among the top employers in the Montreal region. These accolades reinforce our reputation as an employer of choice in Montreal, Canada, and worldwide.
Why join our team?
Control Systems is a challenging and dynamic discipline that touches the engine from end to end, and the product life cycle from end to end too. It is a great entry point to P&WC since our work involves interfacing with many disciplines across the country and with customers and suppliers and even end users externally.
Internship dates: May 4th 2026 to August 27th, 2027
Location: The position is based at our Mississauga location, internship from Monday to Friday, with flexible hours and exclusively on-site.

What will your day-to-day look like?
You will be working on an active engine development program. For the Control Systems discipline, this means designing, testing and certifying control system software and hardware, and supporting field engines in service. The design phase involves developing system and software requirements with the aircraft manufacturer, and with internal engineering departments, and working with software suppliers to develop the control software. The test phase involves designing and running tests on test rigs and engines, and evaluating the data to determine whether the control system functions as intended. Field support involves investigating events occurring on aircraft while in revenue service – understanding from Customer Support what event occurred, reviewing the data to understand what happened, and recommending closure actions. Most of your time will be in the office environment in Mississauga's Plant 22, but you will spend some of your time in the test rigs, and test cells. Student interns will not be required to travel to customers or suppliers, but likely will have the opportunity to visit our Montreal Plant 1 facility to work with colleagues in that plant.
What do you need to be successful?
- Be eligible to work in Canada.
- Be enrolled in a Canadian university throughout your internship.
- Be able to work on-site in the province where you are hired if applicable.
- Be a team player and good communicator – Control systems projects are team-oriented, and require working together with other engineering disciplines.
- Be curious and a fast learner – You will be assigned stretch tasks for which your prior education will help, but you will need on-the-job learning to bridge the gap. The more curious you are, the more you will pick up and take the best advantage of your time to learn at P&WC.
