What's the role?
As the Senior Commercial Credit Risk Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the operations of the commercial and retail credit, and credit risk functions. This role supports the Credit Risk team in ensuring compliance, monitoring credit risk exposure to the organization, and ensuring alignment with the corporate risk appetite, direction, and initiatives. As the Senior Commercial Credit Risk Manager, you monitor the organization's three lines of credit risk defense and support the development of credit risk policies and practices, monitoring and reporting, while monitoring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Your duties will include:
- In conjunction with the risk management team, ensures a well-balanced Risk Management Culture where management and employees understand their role in the three lines of defense risk methodology.
- Provides peer mentorship to Credit Risk department including providing information, training, and tools required to meet current and long-term objectives.
- Approves Commercial Lines of Credit, Loans, Mortgages, and Letters of Credit within assigned lending limits. Recommends loans exceeding assigned limits to the next level of authority, including the Senior Commercial Credit Group and Management Credit Committee.
- Regularly reviews that established corporate compliance and risk functions, including risk monitoring and reporting activities, provide the necessary independent oversight (second line of defense) of the risk management activities of the first line of defense.
- Monitors that levels of risk control for the first and second lines of defense are in place and being monitored and regularly tested for effectiveness and compliance to mitigate risk and minimize Credit Union loan losses. Also provides rigorous review of third line of defense audits to ensure risk areas are clearly and appropriately identified for the necessary mitigating response and resolution by management and lending staff.
What are we looking for?
- Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in a related discipline (e.g. Commerce and Business Administration) requiring – a minimum of 4 years of full-time study or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of credit union operations, principles, and values.
Ideally, you are a flexible, collaborative team player with:
- 7 to 10 years progressive experience in a financial service environment: managing a diversified and increasingly complex loan portfolio
- Superior knowledge of business lending, other stakeholder and regulatory requirements and approach to managing credit risk
- Solid understanding of the competitive environment in the financial marketplace, and local communities within Coastal Community's market area.

Career Band Range (Annual Salary) - $81,156.00 to $117,970.00
The posted salary range is designed to reflect a broad career band, encompassing a variety of roles within our organization and serves as a general guideline. Your final compensation will be tailored to your unique skills, experience, and the responsibilities of the role.
