Job Summary

Orillia Carpet One is seeking a reliable and dedicated Warehouse Associate/ Delivery Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for receiving, storage, organization, and distribution of flooring materials. Key responsibilities generally focus on material handling, inventory management, customer service, and maintaining a safe and organized environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Receiving and Stocking: Unload incoming shipments, verify accuracy in quantity and quality, and move materials to appropriate storage locations. Operation of forklift and pallet jacks.
  • Order Fulfillment: Prepare and complete orders for delivery or customer pickup, which includes picking, packing, wrapping, and labeling materials according to schedule.
  • Inventory Control: Conduct regular inventory counts, cycle audits, and stock level checks using inventory software. Report any damaged, missing, or lost goods to supervisors.
  • Material Handling: Manually move and lift heavy flooring materials (often up to 50-60 lbs) and operate warehouse machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Deliveries: Picking up orders from suppliers and delivering orders to customers in company vehicle.
  • Warehouse Maintenance: Ensure the warehouse and cash-and-carry areas are clean, tidy, and safe by conducting regular health and safety inspections and general cleaning duties.
  • Customer/Installer Support: Act as a point of contact for installers and customers, assisting with loading/unloading vehicles and troubleshooting material issues.
  • Documentation: Manage paperwork for shipments, returns, and internal requisitions with meticulous organization.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Physical Stamina: This role is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift heavy materials, bend, stoop, reach, and stand for extended periods.
  • Work at heights: Change outdoor sign biweekly.
  • Equipment Operation: Experience operating a forklift and pallet jack is required, and experience cutting carpet and vinyl is recommended.
  • Organization & Detail Orientation: Strong personal organization and problem-solving abilities are essential for managing inventory and work orders accurately.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills are necessary for coordinating with team members, supervisors, and customers.
  • Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of workplace health and safety rules and procedures, including WHMIS compliance for any chemical handling, is important.
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with post-secondary education in logistics as an asset.
