Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Large Engine Mechanic located in the Greater Ottawa Metropolitan Area. The Large Engine Mechanic will perform maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and large engines, diagnose mechanical and hydraulic issues, and ensure equipment is operating at peak efficiency. Daily tasks include troubleshooting, inspecting machinery, performing scheduled maintenance, and conducting small engine and hydraulic repairs as necessary. Compliance with safety protocols and collaboration with other team members will be essential.
Qualifications
Completion of 3 year apprenticeship program or a
combination of over four years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in heavy equipment repair is usually required to be eligible for trade certification.
- Heavy Duty equipment technician trade certification, or Red Seal endorsement, is highly desirable.
- Red Seal Certification
- Proven experience in Small Engine Repair and Heavy Equipment maintenance
- Strong knowledge of Hydraulic Systems and Troubleshooting mechanical issues
- Expertise in Maintenance & Repair of large engines and related machinery
- Ability to work effectively in a team and on-site environment
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and protocols
- Technical certification or apprenticeship training in mechanics or a related field is an asset
- Prior experience working on construction or heavy machinery is preferred
