Responsibilities

  • Prepare, negotiate and implement recovery strategies and plans for managed files.
  • Diagnose complex problem situations and take action to implement the necessary corrections in order to reduce risk for the Bank.
  • Analyze financial and legal documents to ensure compliance with strategies and existing authorizations and that our securities are valid and enforceable.
  • Authorize and/or obtain authorization for recovery strategies and plans, irregularities, annual reviews and required changes, according to his or her discretionary authority.
  • Make recommendations to a higher level of authorization on files that exceed his or her discretionary authority.
  • Manage and appropriately monitor operating lines of credit and other types of financing, and, to this end, oversee day-to-day operations for these accounts.
  • Where necessary, engage external professionals (e.g., lawyers, consultants, trustees, brokers) whose assistance he or she requires.
  • If necessary, ask clients to refinance with another financial institution in order to repay us.
  • Where appropriate, manage the orderly liquidation of clients' assets. Perform his or her duties in accordance with current legislation and Bank policies, programs and procedures.
  • Where necessary, prepare and submit claims to organizations that have provided loan guarantees.
  • Authorize and/or obtain authorization for the appropriate levels of allowances and write-offs, according to his or her discretionary authority.
  • Provide file updates to superiors and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports and statistics for the unit and review reports on the accounts under his or her management to ensure their accuracy, issuing instructions for corrections where necessary.
  • Make recommendations for improving work procedures and efficiency.
  • Serve as an expert adviser for senior management and the commercial banking centres on decisions requiring expertise in the field of recovery.
  • Manage the implementation of various major projects and assignments that could have a significant impact on profitability and efficiency.
  • Maintain periodic contact the Bank's senior management and promote and optimize communication with clients and internal and external stakeholders involved in the unit's operations.
  • Monitor market trends and legislative changes to ensure appropriate changes in existing practices and make recommendations to senior Bank management as required.
  • Perform any tasks of a similar or general nature requested by his or her superior or required as part of his or her duties.

Qualifications

  • University education in an appropriate field and six to 10 years of experience.
