We are seeking an individual interested in information management, records organization, and data governance to support the Regional Operations Division with practical and meaningful information and records management initiatives.

About the jobIn this role, you will support the delivery of resource management programs and to the design, development and implementation of information and information management solutions within the Regional Operations Division. More specifically you will:
Assist in the development and update of Ministry data/databases by:
participating in review of business processes, including developing process maps
- identifying information gaps/risks and developing recommendations for improvement
- records inventory and disposition
- file structure cleanup
- metadata, indexing, and retention
modernization of paper - digital
Assist in the development of information management solutions by:
analyzing and developing information management plans
- supporting section staff by analyzing data, investigating new information management technology or techniques
- consulting with clients to analyze client data management requirements, assessing options and providing recommendations in relation to program goals and objectives
- reviewing and developing recommendations on use of data management/administration tools, techniques and methodologies
- assisting with records inventories, retention and disposition activities
- reviewing and organizing physical and digital filing systems
- updating electronic indexes, metadata, and file structures in network and SharePoint environments
supporting records modernization initiatives and transition from paper to digital records
Provide support by:
participating on project teams, including leading projects
- preparing presentations, including development and delivery
- preparing documents, including communication materials
This role is well suited for someone interested in records management, information organization, data quality, and supporting program staff through strong administrative and information management practices.
What you bring to the teamKnowledge, skills and abilities:
Technical knowledge:
- knowledge of natural resource management and applicable legislation
- knowledge of information management and information theory, principles, and techniques
- knowledge of records governance concepts and database management technologies and software
- expertise and ability to work with several computer software programs including Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Visio, SharePoint
Essentials skills and knowledge:
- reasoning and problem-solving skills to conduct analysis and support the development of plans to meet client/program requirements
- analytical and evaluation skills to assess data and information systems, products, processes, and methods to support application and database development.
- oral communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work within a team environment, speak at meetings and make presentations
- written communication skills to prepare updates, emails, memos, and reports
- knowledge of worker responsibilities under the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- proof of eligibility to work in Canada
- have graduated or will graduate from an approved or legally authorized college or university with a diploma or an equivalent degree or postgraduate certificate within the last four years
- candidates are only eligible to participate in one MNR 12-month placement and must not have participated in the MNR internship program in the past
- are not a permanent employee in the Ontario Public Service
