Job Overview

We are seeking an
Associate Lawyer
with
at least 1 year
of experience in civil litigation and/or family law, including chambers experience in the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

This role involves managing files across multiple practice areas including foreclosures, general civil litigation, construction litigation and family law. The successful candidate will work independently on matters from commencing claims in the Supreme Court of BC through to judgment and post-judgment enforcement including garnishments and will regularly attend chambers applications.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings including Notices of Civil Claim, Petitions, Notices of Family Claim, Notices of Application, affidavits, trial briefs and settlement agreements
• Attend chambers hearings on a day to day basis
• Attend and conduct trials
• Prepare and file court materials in accordance with the Supreme Court Family Rules and Provincial Court Family Rules
• Demonstrate strong drafting skills including pleadings, applications and affidavits
• Manage files independently from commencement through resolution
• Communicate directly and professionally with clients and opposing counsel
• Maintain a professional, collaborative and approachable demeanor

Must-Have Qualifications

• Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia with more than 1 year of call
• Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Familiarity with LEAP and Clio
