Suger is a revenue platform that helps our customers grow on the fastest-growing B2B sales channel: the cloud marketplaces of AWS, Azure, GCP, and Alibaba. Launched in 2022, we take the tech debt out of marketplace sales by providing an API-first approach to quote-to-cash and billing processes. We're working with over 200 B2B customers, ranging from large enterprises like Snowflake and Intel to fast-growing startups like Glean and Vanta. We are a Series A startup, funded by top-tier investors, including Threshold VC, Craft Ventures, Intel Capital, and Y Combinator.
We're looking for Staff Software Engineers to design and scale the systems that drive our developer and enterprise-facing products. As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll operate as a technical leader with broad ownership across systems, teams, and product areas - shaping architecture, raising engineering standards, and driving impact beyond individual feature delivery.
This role is based in Vancouver, Canada. We use a hybrid work model of 4 days in the Downtown office per week. In this role, you'll:
- Lead architecture and technical direction for core platform infrastructure and customer-facing product UI, ensuring scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Own and deliver complex, cross-functional initiatives end-to-end, from problem definition and system design through implementation, deployment, and iteration.
- Act as a technical multiplier, setting engineering standards, mentoring engineers, and raising the overall quality, velocity, and technical judgment of the team.
- Partner closely with Product, Design, and Customer-facing teams to translate business and customer needs into robust technical solutions, including direct customer collaboration when needed.
- Drive platform excellence, improving system performance, reliability, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure as the company scales.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience with production programming in at least one of the following languages: Python, Go, Typescript, Java or C++.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, REST APIs & SQL.
- Proven architectural leadership, including designing scalable systems, making sound technical tradeoffs, and balancing near-term delivery with long-term platform health.
- Experience with Terraform, Github CI/CD, Docker and Kubernetes is a great bonus, but not required.
- Experience working on cloud platforms stack (AWS, Azure or GCP) is a plus.
- Ownership mindset and communication strength, comfortable operating in ambiguity, collaborating cross-functionally, and clearly explaining complex technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 CAD/year.
