Intermediate Structural Engineer

In Canada, our Bridge department has offices in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Québec City. AtkinsRéalis also has a large international presence with over 700 bridge professionals globally, and involvement in some of the most complex structures in the world. The Bridges Department – Central Region, is looking for an Intermediate Structural Engineer (Bridges) for our team in Ontario. Reporting to the Manager, Bridges – Central Region, the engineer will be responsible for carrying out engineering activities in the field of bridges and engineering structures such as the development, design, evaluation, inspection, and execution of various projects.

• Support and develop the technical knowledge of professionals (engineers and technicians) including carrying out studies, structural analysis, and evaluations.
• Carry out preliminary and detailed structural design including tender preparation for the construction and/or rehabilitation of bridges and other structures.
• Carry out structure inspections and asset management activities for existing structures. 
• Preparation of proposals including technical publications and conferences.

• Degree in Civil Engineering (preferably with a structural major). Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with PEO.
• 7+ years of experience in engineering practice in analysis and design of various types of bridge and transportation structures; railway structures is an asset. Demonstrated experience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects with variety of complexity, type of bridge, size and scope.
• Experience with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC) and the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) Code.
• Experience with reviewing condition survey reports and making recommendations for rehabilitation strategy. Experience in preparing structural designs and evaluations, and contract packages for the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) with key Clients (MTO, Metrolinx, Municipalities and TTC), including current Ministry policies, procedures, standards, specifications, and manuals.
• Proficient in SAP 2000, CSI Bridge, MIDAS, Staad Pro, ETABS, Bentley ProjectWise and Microsoft Office applications.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $80,000 - $110,000 annually (Only Applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
