About The Role
As the Director of Financial Services Platforms, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of FreshBook's Payroll platform and other Financial Services product offerings. You'll be accountable for delivering growth and operational excellence across key domains such as partnerships, platform performance, and customer adoption, working cross-functionally to achieve business objectives. This role focuses on translating company strategy into actionable plans for Financial Services Platforms, ensuring strong execution, financial discipline, and an exceptional customer experience.

, meaning that the team comes together in office up to twice a week.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and Implement our Financial Services Platforms Strategy: Translate the company's strategic priorities into functional plans that drive measurable business outcomes. Define goals, initiatives, and success metrics for Financial Services Platforms in alignment with FreshBooks' strategy and customer needs.
  • P&L Ownership: Develop and manage the functional operating budget, monitoring performance against key financial targets. Optimize resource allocation to balance quality, cost, and speed of delivery, contributing to the broader profit and loss (P&L) outcomes of Financial Service Platforms at FreshBooks.
  • Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day commercial operations to ensure efficiency, compliance, and quality of delivery. Identify opportunities for process improvement and scalability, ensuring operational frameworks support growth and customer satisfaction, maximizing conversion rates and reducing churn.
  • Business Development and Vendor Management: Build and manage relationships with Financial Service Platforms service providers and partners. Negotiate contracts, monitor service level agreements, and ensure seamless integration of their systems with our SaaS platform.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with leaders across Product, Marketing, Customer Experience, and other teams to align strategies and deliver shared business results. Serve as the primary liaison for Financial Services Platforms initiatives across departments, ensuring coordinated planning and execution.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and coach a high-performing commercial team. Provide clarity of vision, set priorities, and empower team members to deliver results. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Embed customer-centric thinking into all aspects of Financial Services Platforms operations. Leverage data, insights, and feedback to identify pain points, improve experiences, and enhance the value delivered to customers. Ensure workflows integrate well with other FreshBooks offerings, creating a seamless customer experience.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Provide clear and proactive communication to executive and cross-functional stakeholders. Present insights, updates, and recommendations that inform strategic decisions and influence business outcomes.

What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years of senior leadership experience in SaaS, FinTech, or technology-enabled financial services, with accountability for business delivery and outcomes.
  • End-to-end ownership of financial platforms or products such as payments, payroll, lending, or flexible pay-as-you-go solutions, including development, strategy, execution, and performance
  • Proven P&L or equivalent financial accountability, managing large, complex budgets and making disciplined investment decisions tied to growth, risk, and long-term value
  • Strong leadership, including experience leading business development efforts, negotiating and managing strategic partners, vendors, and external service providers
  • Demonstrated success leading through change, including scaling teams, transforming operating models, or navigating organizational and market complexity
  • Ability to operate cross-functionally at scale, partnering with Product, Engineering, Marketing, CX, Legal, and Finance to align priorities and deliver results
  • Executive-level communication and judgment, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and make sound decisions in fast-moving, ambiguous environments

You'll Stand Out If You Have

  • Master's degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience leading teams through change and scaling functions in growth-stage SaaS environments.

Compensation
At FreshBooks, we approach each individual's compensation with a promise of fair market value and internal equity commensurate with experience and specific skill set.

The total annual compensation for this role ranges from CA$145,000 to CA$182,000, which may include participation in our incentive programs. Additionally, this position offers an equity grant and immediate enrollment in FreshBooks' comprehensive benefits program, detailed below.
