Tomlinson's Truck Dispatcher hires and places trucks on construction jobs and other sites within the Southeastern Ontario area. The incumbent will work in a fast pace and ever changing environment requiring the ability to be resilient, self-motivating and able to work with minimal supervision.
Location: 100 Citigate Drive
Vacancy Type: Replacement (contract role until September 2026).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Dispatch & Logistics:
- Placing of Tomlinson-owned and external trucks/equipment on various sites
- Collaborate with operations managers, superintendents, foremen and others to ensure resources are distributed accordingly; attend daily meeting
- Coordinates with scale attendants and sales team on trucking operations and needs
- Helps with haul rates when required
Accounting:
- Reviews and approves rental timesheets
- Handles any disputes pertaining to timesheets
- Assist accounting with external truck hiring packages and vendor set-up
- Inquiring and assisting with annual trucking rental rates
- Assist with finances related to logistics, Fiori, TREAD and SAP
Other:
- Ensure successful hand off to other team member
- Helps with questions from field staff
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be comfortable working in a digital environment
- Must be open minded and a forward thinker; adapt to curve balls and changes
- Strong Organizational Skills with demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks while maintaining composure under pressure
- Demonstrate problem solving, trouble shooting and negotiating skills
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with customers and co-workers
- Ability to work flexible schedule, long hours and be on call every second weekend
- Work collaboratively as a team player and have the ability to work independently
- Some travel to job sites may be required
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Strong technology skills is a must, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and SAP
- Familiarity of the transportation and logistics industries including dispatching equipment, crews, labour and materials considered an asset
- Construction experience or proven knowledge considered an asset; Understanding of weights and measurements
- Bilingual in French considered an asset
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The expected salary range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000 annually. Placement within the range is dependant on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
