In accordance with the established vision, mission, and values of the organization, the Biomedical Engineering Technologist – Risk and Quality Specialist provides a full range of biomedical engineering services with a specialized focus on cybersecurity, risk mitigation, quality management, and informatics. The specialist leads the development and implementation of cybersecurity policies and medical device risk management programs and serves as a CMMS super user to support data integrity, reporting, and performance improvement. The role includes developing and monitoring a formal Quality Management System (QMS), facilitating data-driven decision-making, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and regulatory bodies, to promote continuous quality improvement and optimal biomedical engineering services.
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00

Qualifications- Graduate of a recognized program in Biomedical Engineering Technology plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Specialized education, training, and experience in biomedical technology, cybersecurity, data and risk management.
- Member of or eligible for membership in Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of B.C.
- Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License.
Skills and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the operation and maintenance practices and procedures for most medical equipment, current computer troubleshooting and networking knowledge.
- Advanced ability in Microsoft Office with high proficiency in MS Excel.
- General understanding and familiarity with information systems present in a modern hospital.
- Working knowledge of Asset Management systems, Patient Safety Learning System, Equipment Alert, Hazards and Recalls, and other information systems.
- Ability to organize work, set objectives, establish priorities, manage time and resources, and promote cooperation among the interdisciplinary team.
- Basic data analysis and reporting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff and the members of the interdisciplinary team using oral written and digital communication means.
- Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment and tools, and to understand biomedical engineering information technology requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks, responsibilities, and projects, exhibiting strong self-accountability and initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to provide advanced technical advice and consultation, to provide expert advice, and to address issues with analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team environment and to develop, lead, and support project strategies.
