About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Designer to join our team. This role will focus on the design and development of enclosures, silencers, tanks, and related custom fabrications. You will be responsible for creating accurate 3D models, detailed fabrication drawings, and general arrangement drawings, ensuring designs are practical, manufacturable, and meet project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, detail, and draft mechanical components and assemblies for enclosures, silencers, tanks, and related products.
- Create and manage 3D models and associated fabrication drawings.
- Develop general arrangement (GA) drawings to communicate design intent.
- Apply knowledge of sheet metal design, including bending allowances, tolerances, and fabrication processes.
- Leverage parametric modeling to speed up design iterations and drawing creation.
- Generate and maintain bills of materials (BOMs).
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams to ensure designs meet functional and manufacturing requirements.
- Review and update existing designs to improve manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure drawings comply with internal standards, client specifications, and industry best practices.
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Design (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on sheet metal fabrication.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Proficient in 2D drafting with AutoCAD.
- Experience using parametrics to streamline and accelerate the design process.
- Deep understanding of sheet metal design principles (bending, tolerances, welding, forming).
- Experience producing detailed fabrication drawings and GA drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and lead design projects.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the design of enclosures, silencers, tanks, or similar fabricated products.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards.
- Experience supporting manufacturing/fabrication shops.
