The mandate of Facility Operations is to operate and maintain all City facilities and City-managed buildings, which represents approximately 900 buildings and includes police, fire, libraries, child care, paramedic posts, recreation, culture, public works, City Hall and other administrative buildings, long-term care facilities, and facility outdoor property. The Facility Operations units deliver facility management and maintenance services within assigned geographic and/or specialty areas.
You are responsible for maintaining, trouble-shooting, repairing and modifying all plumbing systems and associated ancillary equipment for all facilities of the City of Ottawa. You are also responsible for the construction, assembly and installation of new plumbing equipment as required for ongoing building operations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCECompletion of Plumber apprenticeship program of 9000 hours
Additional post-secondary education in electrical, refrigeration and gas trades is an asset
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the installation and maintenance of a variety of plumbing equipment, such as underground services installation, piping and venting of plumbing systems, back flow testing, soldering and welding following acquisition of Journeyperson's Certificate
More extensive exposure to a variety of piping installations is an asset
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCESValid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Plumber 306A Valid Certified Cross Connection Control Specialist with Ontario Water Works Association (OWWA) Must complete all required on-the-job training/certifications (e.g. WHMIS, fall arrest, confined space entry, etc.) within the timeframe determined by the employer. Valid Ontario unrestricted class G driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). KNOWLEDGE

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

- Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete an Enhanced Reliability Clearance to the City of Ottawa's satisfaction.
- Driver's License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
- You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
