Job Overview
The Pharmacist is responsible for providing safe, accurate, and patient-centered pharmaceutical care. This role involves dispensing medications, providing clinical services, counseling patients, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and professional standards. The Pharmacist plays a key role in supporting community health while maintaining efficient pharmacy operations.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Services
- Accurately review, dispense, and verify prescriptions in compliance with provincial regulations
- Provide medication counseling, including dosage, side effects, interactions, and adherence support
- Administer injections and vaccinations as authorized
- Conduct medication reviews, minor ailment prescribing (if authorized), and chronic disease support
- Support patients enrolled in opioid agonist therapy (OAT) or other monitored programs, as applicable
Pharmacy Operations
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation in pharmacy systems
- Oversee proper storage, handling, and disposal of medications, including controlled substances
- Supervise and support pharmacy technicians, assistants, and other staff
- Maintain inventory levels and assist with ordering medications and supplies
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with the College of Pharmacists, provincial legislation, and company policies
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations
- Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate effectively with prescribers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Provide professional guidance to patients, caregivers, and community partners
- Contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and supportive pharmacy environment
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensed and in good standing with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia (or applicable provincial body)
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (BScPharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
- Injection certification and CPR/First Aid (preferred or required)
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy software systems
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Work Environment
- Community pharmacy setting
- Standing for extended periods
- Interaction with a diverse patient population
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $39.68-$57.61 per hour
Expected hours: 24 per week
