About the Role

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the primary objective of the Quality Supervisor aids in planning, directing, and coordinating quality manufacturing activities of the company's sardine operations to ensure compliance with the corporate quality assurance program, regulatory compliance, and third-party certification compliance. Additionally, the incumbent provides ongoing technical support and coaching to operations employees.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Assures consistent production quality by developing and enforcing good manufacturing practices (GMPs), validating processes, providing documentation and managing staff.
  • Accomplishes quality assurance objectives by orientating, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counselling and planning activities.
  • Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews, preparing and completing action plans, implementing production, productivity, quality and customer standards, identifying and resolving problems, assisting with regulatory and third-party certification audits, identifying, determining system improvements and implementing change.
  • Develop quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses, identifying critical control points and preventive measures, establishing critical limits, monitoring, corrective actions and verification procedures.
  • Responsible for overseeing the Calibration program.
  • Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes, documenting evidence, determining operational and performance qualifications and writing and updating quality procedures.
  • Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, compliance and surveillance audits and assisting in investigating customer complaints.
  • Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends, including corrective actions and revalidation requirements.
  • Understand customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines as well as legal obligations.
  • Supervise the quality team and provide guidance and feedback.
  • Create and participate in updating Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for all positions in the reporting departments.
  • Assist the QA Coordinator in documenting held products, arranging product inspections, and reporting promptly when necessary.
  • Oversee all product development procedures to identify deviations from quality standards.
  • Communicate with the Production Supervisor(s) whenever a product is out-of-spec or when procedures need to be addressed.
  • Inspect final output and compare properties to requirements.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • 2-5 years supervisory experience required preferably in a production environment.
  • Proficient in computer usage; capable of accurately entering data and generating reports using various software programs (such as Excel, SAP, etc.).
  • The capability to collaborate with all levels of the organization.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in a scientific discipline or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of two years of quality assurance experience in a cannery or food-processing facility is preferred.
  • Develop strong critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in MW or MS Office; and
  • In-depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards.

The tasks involved in this job require a variety of physical activities, such as walking and standing for periods of time within a production environment.
