Key Responsibilities Dispensing SupportRetrieve medications from stock based on prescription orders. Count and prepare medications accurately under the supervision of a Pharmacist or Registered Pharmacy Technician. Affix labels to prescription vials or containers. Package medications for dispensing, including blister packs and unit dose packaging. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the prescription filling area. Return completed prescriptions to the appropriate area for pharmacist verification.Prescription Processing and DispensingReceive and interpret prescription orders written and verbal, excluding controlled substances. Accurately enter prescription information into the pharmacy software system, including patient and drug details. Manage third party billing and prescription transfers to and from other pharmacies.Inventory ManagementReceive, unpack, and organize pharmaceutical and over the counter products. Monitor stock levels and expiration dates, and ensure proper storage of all medications. Assist with routine inventory counts and report low stock to the pharmacist or technician.General SupportAnswer and direct phone calls to appropriate pharmacy staff. Maintain patient records and prescription documentation with accuracy and confidentiality. Process invoices, delivery slips, and related paperwork. Assist with preparing orders for delivery or pickup. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the dispensary and work areas.Customer Service SupportAssist customers in locating over the counter products. Direct prescription inquiries to the Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician. Provide friendly and efficient support to customers and assist the front shop team when needed.ComplianceFollow all pharmacy policies, procedures, and provincial regulations, including the Personal Health Information Protection Act PHIPA. Maintain confidentiality of all patient information at all times.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proficient with basic computer applications. Excellent time management and multitasking abilities. Reliable, responsible, and able to follow instructions precisely. Positive attitude and strong communication skills. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs. Previous experience in pharmacy, retail, or customer service is an asset.
