Together we are more than 5,000 dedicated faculty, librarians and staff supporting the University of Victoria's diverse academic programs, world-class research and commitment to civic engagement.The salary range for this position is:Recruitment range: $72,242 - $79,650 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.Performance range: $93,951 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.*May be eligible for hybrid working arrangement after successful completion of probationary period*Job SummaryAs part of Financial Planning and Operations, the Financial Reporting department prepares all internal management reporting and all external compliance financial reporting for the University of Victoria and its consolidated entities. The department is responsible for the production and delivery of reliable, relevant, accurate and timely financial statements, and reports for both internal management purposes and external users.Reporting to the Financial Reporting Team Lead, and working as a member of a team of Financial Accountants, this position's primary responsibility is to support the production of the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements, working papers and reports for the university and its related entities. Key accountabilities for this role include:Performing accounting functions including review and posting of journal entries, transactions and journal entries in order to detect and correct errors.Working with senior team members to prepare and analyze financial statements.Coordination of statutory and other compliance processesTraining and ongoing user support to staff across the universityParticipation in special projectsAdditional duties for Pensions Services if requiredOther duties of similar scopeThis position applies Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and other Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as applicable.
