Position:  Nursing Graduate Guarantee (NGG) - Registered Nurse/Registered Practical Nurse

Trillium Health Partners (THP) is once again proud to participate in the Ministry of Health's Nursing Graduate Guarantee (NGG) initiative for 2025/2026.

As part of the Ministry of Health's health human resources strategy, this initiative provides new graduate nurses in Ontario, including those who studied out-of-province and abroad, with temporary full-time employment above staffing complement for up to twelve (12) weeks. This initiative supports their successful transition into practice, ensuring they gain valuable experience and are well-prepared for their careers in healthcare.

The NGG initiative aims to:

• Support new nurses in Ontario as they transition into practice;
• Improve the integration of new nurses into the workforce;
• Promote the availability of full-time employment or the equivalent of full-time hours for new nurses; and 
• Promote health workforce planning at the organizational level.

Trillium Health Partners supports participants in the NGG initiative by:

• Providing the new nurse with general orientation to the organization, allowing the new nurse to gain consistent knowledge on organizational practices, policies and standards;
• Ensuring that a mentor(s) is available to work with the new nurse and that there is a designated transition into practice leader who is accountable for implementing the NGG initiative and tracking the progress with the new nurse and mentor(s);
• Ensuring that a learning plan is developed by the new nurse and mentor;
• Meeting the goals of the learning plan by including a variety of teaching strategies and delivery methods to educate on competencies, as it relates to the area/unit of employment of the new nurse.

Eligibility:

Participation in the NGG initiative is open to nurses within 12 months of registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). The new nurse must be registered with the CNO, either in the Temporary Class or General Class, before beginning their NGG transition into practice period.

Canadian educated nurses who:

• Graduated with a baccalaureate degree in nursing or a diploma from a practical nursing program in Canada; 
• Match with an employer on the NGG online portal within 12 months of registered with the CNO; and
• Commit to accepting full-time employment or the equivalent of full-time hours with their NGG employer after completing their NGG transition into practice period.

Internationally educated nurses (IENs) who:

• Completed their nursing education outside of Canada;
• Match with an employer on the NGG online portal within 12 months of registering with the CNO; and 
• Commit to accepting full-time employment or the equivalent of full-time hours with their NGG employer after completing their NGG transition into practice period.

Important Note:  Trillium Health Partners recognizes that many new nursing graduates are not yet registered with the CNO and therefore cannot formally register on the NGG portal as a Nursing User, as registration with the CNO is a prerequisite. Therefore, if you're a new nursing graduate not yet registered with the CNO, we encourage you to apply to this job posting. However, you must register with the CNO (Temporary or General Class) before starting your NGG transition period.
