Our client, an established Canadian leader in infrastructure space is seeking a Pension & Benefits Specialist to join the team.

This role will be responsible for supporting the HR team in benefits programs administration for the Canadian workforce. You will assist in developing, implementing, and improving programs, processes, and tools to help achieve the department's strategic objectives.

This is a full-time, permanent - hybrid 2-3 days in West GTA. We have placed multiple people with this organisation and know the hiring teams well.

What You'll Do

  • Administer multiple plans and various aspects of benefits programs in compliance with policies, current legislation, and corporate governance requirements
  • Advise and support the business on benefit requirements and best practices
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and timely responses to benefits-related inquiries from staff, retirees, and HR
  • Work with internal contacts and service providers to resolve claims, coverage, and service issues
  • Support and manage annual benefits enrolment project activities including communications
  • Recommend and implement improvements to pension and retirement processes
  • Support annual pension audit, preparation of financial statements, and year-end processes
  • Prepare and submit pension filings to meet regulatory deadlines
  • Take a lead role in the integration, testing, and implementation of HR systems from a pension & benefits perspective

What You Bring

  • Strong experience with Canadian benefits programs (broad-based and Executive)
  • A minimum of 4 - 6 years of related work experience and a college or university degree
  • Completion or progression toward professional designations such as CEBS is preferred
  • 2-3 years of SAP and/or specific software experience related to the area of specialization
  • Strong understanding of benefits legislation and compliance/filing requirements
  • Highly developed problem-solving ability and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to successfully navigate a fast-paced, complex, and changing work environment
