Founding Full-Stack Engineer (First Hire)

Location:
Ideally Greater Toronto Area (GTA)-based (not a requirement); we will be primarily remote with occasional in-person sessions in Toronto and abroad.

Hi, I'm Helen Huang, Founder. We're building a user-owned behavioral identity layer for the internet - think interactive games that reveal authentic character, values, and tastes to power better hiring, relationships, and personal growth in an AI world. This is my second startup, backed by top VCs (same as Hugging Face, Granola, and The Browser Company).

As our founding engineer (first official team member), you'll co-own the product: Ship experiments weekly (we'll realistically ship more than once a week honestly), build retention features, aggregate behavioral insights, and shape our tech foundation while iterating to PMF. Expect ambiguity, fun, and direct user impact and a just being realistic - a lot of work.

Must-Haves:

  • 3+ years professional full-stack experience (startup background required), with strong backend skills - especially building and integrating APIs, as the future of our product hinges on robust API-driven architecture.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript, React, , Tailwind CSS, Supabase, APIs, animations, Amplitude/Google Analytics.
  • History of shipping side projects out of passion for tinkering.
  • Thrives in fast-paced, experimental environments; interest in gaming, psychology, and playful UX.
