Victoria BC VW N, Canada VICTORIA COOL AID SOCIETY Full time

Who We Are

Victoria Cool Aid Society acknowledges the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, on whose traditional territories we build homes, lives, and communities. The Victoria Cool Aid Society (Cool Aid) provides affordable housing, emergency shelters, primary health and dental care, nutritious meals, and wellness programs such as recreation, employment, and volunteer opportunities. With your support, the staff helps more than 12,000 people annually at 20 locations in Victoria, Saanich, and Langford. Cool Aid houses and supports more people who have been homeless in their community than any other organization on Vancouver Island.

Job Summary

Cool Aid's first recovery housing site will begin operations in the spring of 2026. The site will include 20 individual units, supported by peer support and on-site staff, to facilitate lasting aftercare for individuals who have completed a medical detox and treatment program and are experiencing housing instability.

The Recovery Housing site will be located at 1153 Johnson St and will create a path forward for people recovering from addiction. The program will free up valuable supportive housing units for individuals who are currently unsheltered, while creating a sense of hope not only for those on the street or in supportive housing but also for Cool Aid staff working to support these individuals.

Reporting to the Director of Housing and Shelters, the Recovery Housing Manager will provide operational leadership and strategic oversight for Cool Aid's first recovery housing program. This role ensures effective delivery of trauma-informed, recovery-focused housing support in alignment with Cool Aid's values: Health, Housing, and Wellness.

  • Direct supervision of staff in the performance of all duties.
  • Mentoring and providing formal and informal coaching in performance management.
  • Maintaining consistent, high-quality services and infrastructure while striving to achieve strategic and operational goals.

  • Implement occupational health and safety procedures and practices as they apply to regulation and agency requirements, monitor staff comprehension, participate in risk assessments and investigations
  • Oversee day-to-day financial activities of the programs.
  • Work with the Director to develop and initiate public relations materials and activities that promote services.
  • Investigate and, as possible, ensure successful resolution of complaints.
