Location: Remote (North America preferred)

Overview

We are seeking a Backend and DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate backend systems that support real-time, data-driven web applications. This role combines API development with operational ownership, reliability, and performance work across production services.

You will collaborate with frontend engineers and product stakeholders to deliver scalable services, integrate data platforms, and maintain dependable deployment and monitoring workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement RESTful APIs using and TypeScript
  • Build and operate backend services with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability
  • Integrate backend systems with search and time-series data platforms
  • Develop asynchronous workflows and background processing where required
  • Contribute to containerized development and deployment workflows
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines, observability, and production troubleshooting practices
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers on API contracts and real-time integrations

Required Qualifications (Must Have)

  • Strong experience with and TypeScript in production systems
  • Proven experience with REST API design and integration for modern web applications
  • Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch (indexing/search/performance considerations)
  • Experience working with InfluxDB or another time-series database
  • Solid understanding of HTTP, networking fundamentals, and backend performance
  • Experience debugging production issues using logs, metrics, and traces

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with Redis (caching, messaging, coordination)
  • Familiarity with NATS or other messaging/eventing systems
  • Experience with Docker-based development and deployment workflows
  • Exposure to GraphQL APIs
  • Experience operating services in cloud environments
  • Prior experience in iGaming, gaming, or real-time transactional platforms

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is competitive and based on experience and location. The total rewards package may include performance incentives, equity opportunities, and flexible work arrangements.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 24 months

Pay: $90,312.22-$151,751.16 per year
