What You'll Do:

  • Teach students in JK to Grade 8 in a multi-age, inclusive classroom
  • Each teacher will be assigned to teach either JK to grade 3 or grade 4 to grade 8
  • Foster a safe and nurturing environment that supports students' academic, emotional, and cultural development
  • Incorporate Indigenous perspectives and land-based learning into the curriculum
  • Collaborate with local Elders, families, and community members
  • Plan engaging lessons aligned with provincial curriculum standards and community values

What We're Looking For:

  • Certified teacher and be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers by the employment start date
  • Experience teaching elementary grades (multi-grade experience is an asset)
  • Knowledge of Anishinaabe Culture & Language is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Land based teaching
  • Commitment to Indigenous education and willingness to learn about First Nations cultures and traditions
  • Flexible, patient, and culturally respectful
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
