Job Overview

  • 25–35 hours per week
  • Must be able to start as early as 7:00 AM for baking shifts

This is a dual front-of-house (customer service) and back-of-house (kitchen) role. We are looking for someone who enjoys providing great customer service, is interested in working with food, and has strong food handling and preparation skills. We may be willing to train the right candidate even if not all requirements are met.

Duties

  • Prepare and assemble food items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring quality and presentation (sandwiches, sauces, portioning, etc.)
  • Bake bread and prepare proteins (beef, chicken, pork, tofu), sometimes in batches of 25+ lbs
  • Prepare sauces and other components according to recipes
  • Safely and efficiently operate kitchen equipment (mixers, meat slicer, Robot Coupe, etc.)
  • Operate POS systems and accurately manage cash transactions
  • Provide exceptional customer service by taking orders, answering questions, and ensuring guests leave happy
  • Upsell menu items to enhance the guest experience
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in both kitchen and service areas
  • Follow proper food handling and food safety procedures at all times
  • Support team members with food prep, customer service, and other duties as needed to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Manage time effectively and remain calm during busy periods to ensure prompt, warm service

Requirements

  • Brings a strong work ethic and a sense of urgency when needed to support workflow
  • Previous experience in food service, quick service, or restaurant environments is preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with POS systems is an asset
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices, or willingness to obtain a Food Safety Certificate (cost reimbursed upon completion)
  • Ability to complete thorough cleaning and deep-cleaning tasks as part of daily, weekly, and monthly routines
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate warmly and effectively with guests and team members
  • Basic math skills for cash handling, portioning, and scaling recipes
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Mostly day shifts, with flexibility to work occasional evenings if needed
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs, including moving supplies up and down stairs to and from the basement kitchen, and move quickly and safely in a multi-level workspace. Reasonable accommodations will be considered.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00-$17.22 per hour
