Your Opportunity:

FMC Psychiatric Adult Service is a sub- acute service providing time limited, goal directed therapy to patients with a variety of mood and anxiety disorders. As the Mental Health Clinician, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment (psychotherapy). Therapists and Psychiatrists work collaboratively, with the main focus of the role including comprehensive assessments, time limited individual therapy and group therapy.

Description:

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: a Master's degree in Psychology, a Bachelor's degree in Social Work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention, a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy with similar educational components, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling, or a Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years working in a direct therapy position within Adult Addiction and Mental Health. Experience facilitating a variety of groups including psychoeducational and skills based. Proficiency with both DBT and CBT with the ability to utilize in therapy with clients. Proficiency with individual therapy, manage a case list, work within tight timeframes, and adhere to policies around total sessions and triggered reviews.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with time limited/goal-oriented therapy in an outpatient adult addiction and mental health setting. Demonstrated understanding of all Addiction and Mental Health programs within the Calgary Zone. SFBT and Trauma therapy considered an asset.
