Position Overview

Autodesk makes software for people who design and build the world around us. As a global leader in 3D design, engineering, manufacturing, and entertainment software, our tools power the creation of everything from high-performance cars and iconic skyscrapers to smartphones and award-winning films. We are seeking a Principal Software Developer to help shape Autodesk's next-generation Insights platform, a foundation for building smarter, more secure, and scalable AI and generative AI solutions across our product portfolio. You'll collaborate with research and engineering teams spanning design, construction, manufacturing, and media & entertainment to deliver a platform that supports insights development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the design and development of core systems for Autodesk's Insights platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance

  • Identify opportunities to simplify and automate workflows, from data processing to deployment

  • Orchestrate and automate large-scale data transformations, pipelines, and artifact storage

  • Design and implement low-latency, high-throughput prediction and inference services

  • Partner with researchers, product managers, architects, and developers across domains to align solutions with business and customer needs

  • Provide technical leadership and set architectural direction for critical components of the Insights platform

Minimum Qualifications

  • MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

  • 8+ years in software development with proven delivery of production-grade systems and services

  • Expertise in programming (Python, Java, Go, SQL, scripting languages)

  • Strong record in distributed system design and scalable software architecture

  • Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud technologies

  • Proficiency with big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark, Hive, NoSQL, pipelines)

  • Experience building and optimizing data platforms (storage, retrieval, processing)

  • Possessing an understanding of statistical analysis and prior collaboration with data scientists or researchers

  • Excellent critical reasoning and decision-making skills

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $131,500 and $180,840. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
