Your Opportunity:
The Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital is an acute care facility, located northeast of Edmonton, offering a range of acute and outpatient care including 24-hour emergency services. In this role, you will be a member of an integrated service delivery team providing care and treatment to clients in the Emergency Department, utilizing professional knowledge, clinical judgment, technical and interpersonal skills. You will have the opportunity to work alongside a high functioning team who collaborate closely to share information and support each other and you will gain inclusive and approachable leaders who emphasize training, a robust orientation and professional development. You may be required to work in all areas of the Emergency Department at the discretion of the unit manager/charge nurse. You will also demonstrate compassion and have a strong focus on patient-centered care.
Description:
As an Orthopaedic Technician (Ortho Tech), you will apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints and traction equipment utilized in the care of orthopaedic patients (clients, residents). You will observe, monitor, report and document changes in the patient's physical, mental and emotional state, while providing safe and effective, quality care. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of experience tertiary care, emergency, or critical care unit. Minimum of two (2) years working experience in medicine, surgery unit, or non-tertiary emergency within the last five (5) years. Excellent prioritization and assessment skills Strong communication skills The ability to be flexible and agile in an ever-changing environment. Demonstrated compassion and a strong focus on patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). Current Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS). Previous experience as a triage nurse.
